Bmad/PTC: From Lattice Design to Modeling of Charged Particles & X-rays

Europe/Zurich
Description

Speaker:
David Sagan, Cornell University

Abstract:
The Bmad Toolkit, developed at Cornell University, is a versatile software library for simulations of particle beams and X-rays in accelerators. Bmad, in conjunction with the PTC toolkit developed by Etienne Forest, has been used in a number of areas from lattice design to on-line modeling. Bmad can simulate a wide variety of effects from intrabeam scattering to the beam breakup instability while PTC can create Taylor maps to arbitrary order and has modules for normal form analysis. The present talk will give an introduction to Bmad and PTC with emphasis on spin simulations.
