Description
After placing the origin-of-neutrino-mass problem in the context of the general issue of understanding the origins of mass, I will focus on ways to generate Majorana neutrino masses and comment on the experimental testability of the various scenarios. The seesaw models will be considered together with radiative mass generation theories from the perspective of effective operators that violate lepton number by two units. I will argue that the neutrino mass origin problem benefits from the whole experimental high-energy physics program, not just from neutrino experiments. I will also answer the question in the title.
