The 'mono-jet' final state, an energetic jet balancing invisible particles, is the most powerful search at the LHC for a broad range of Dark Matter models. Recently, the analysis techniques to probe such final states have been considerably developed, in particular the estimates of the V+jets backgrounds. The LHC Run-2 interpretations have also been discussed intensively in the LHC Dark Matter Working Group.
In this Collider Crosstalk, Adish Vartak (UCSD/CMS) will describe the search strategy for the CMS experiment, as well as its interpretations; Alfredo Urbano (CERN-TH) will discuss possible new signals.
