Description

After some years of planning and two intense years of engineering, fabrication, assembly, installation, and as much commissioning as feasible, the prototype for the single-phase liquid argon detector for the DUNE experiment, protoDUNE NP04, has been completed, and over the past few weeks has been exposed to beam from the new H4 beam line.

I will give some examples of the technical challenges addressed by this, the largest liquid argon time projection chamber ever constructed, the solutions adopted, and some initial data on some aspects of the performance of the apparatus.
