Description

High momentum partons lose energy through interactions with the hot and dense deconfined QCD matter created in heavy-ion collisions. Such partonic energy loss leads to the suppression of high-pT particle production. The study of this suppression allows for the extraction of medium properties such as the transport coefficient q^.  Whether such a deconfined medium can also be formed in smaller collision systems (like p-Pb or pp) has remained an open question, in large part due to the complete absence of experimental evidence for partonic energy loss in small colliding systems.

In this talk, we discuss recent measurements of the charged hadron suppression, how those measurements can be affected by biases and how they are interpreted in the context of partonic energy loss models.
