Description

Abstract

During this brief introductory talk, the main goal will be to visit some of the recent applications of Machine Learning models and Artificial Intelligence systems in Medical Research and Medical Applications. The talk will show and discuss some of the common trends, known and possible pitfalls and open questions still existing when discussing Medical Informatics and Explainable AI. Additionally, the projects at CERN openlab in the field of Medical Informatics will be introduced and the talk will be followed up by more in-depth talk focusing on one of such projects, namely BioDynaMo, given by Lukas Breitwieser.

Bio

Taghi Aliyev is currently doing a joint PhD between Maastricht University, CERN openlab and King's College London on the topic of "Extending AI above its limits: Known Unknowns". His research and application areas mostly focus on the medical informatics use cases. At CERN he has worked on the collaborative projects with UNOSAT Satellite Agency and some other organizations. His background is in Artificial Intelligence, Mathematical Optimization and Machine Learning.
