Will science and technology alone save the day?
Where is the intersection between the world of design and the world of scientific research?
What would come out of the inter-exchange of mentalities and expertise between the two fields?

With these questions, we are inviting everyone with an open, curious mind to the Design Day at CERN, to participate in creating a new, exciting interdisciplinary experiment at the intersection of science, design, and society.

The Design Day @ CERN attracts professionals with open, curious minds across CERN and Geneva and explores complex, controversial topics in science, design, and society. On the Design Day, The School of Design of Royal College of Art (RCA) in London partnering with IdeaSquare at CERN, will be launching a new level of collaboration connecting science, technology, and design.

RCA, the only entirely postgraduate art and design university in the world, is known for the most influential graduates across the world. By bringing together leading scientists with the uniquely creative talents, this collaboration will be focusing on the "shared missions" between scientists and designers, which address and tackle society’s most intractable challenges.

The partnership between CERN and RCA aims to challenge the ‘silo mentality’ of conventional disciplines and create not only compelling breakthrough proposals but also new paradigms regarding effective interdisciplinary collaborations.
