The proposed agenda was
  • Approval/follow up of minutes of previous meeting
  • Follow up of 5th SPL collaboration meeting  (W. Weingarten)
  • Manufacture of cavities: Budget codes, status of niobium acquisition, technical specification of cavities

  • The minutes were approved without modifications.
  • W. Weingarten summarized the conclusions of the collaboration meeting relevant for our WG2.
As follow-up, one of the main points is related due the late delivery of Nb for cavity manufacturing by Plansee, delayed by about 6 months. Ofelia has investigated other suppliers and the best options time/money/quality weighed is still to remain with Plansee. This may have an impact on the overall planning of the final cryomodule delivery. At the same time, it may give an opportunity to redesign the helium tank using s.steel (following discussions with CEA during the collaboration meeting). The feasibility of this change will be investigated.
  • Budget codes: there are already several commitments (EB welding, Nb procurement) which reduce the available budget to a meager amount for new work (50 k). The message is however to proceed and any new need will be evaluated by the management in the course of the year.
  • Technical specifications for the cavities have been drafted (not circulated yet). Main points are that we buy a (tuned) mechanical object, not the performance. All treatments (surface, heat) will be done at CERN under our responsibility.
  • OB: the copper cavities will be delivered by May/June.
