Ignacio: IT will have a new department head, Enrica Porcari, starting in July
Roundtable:
____________________________________
Elisabetta: Nothing to report
Denis: Started to move data to the new servers. Half of the cluster has been updated, moving all the data.
Steven: Couple of things:
Since the last meeting CTA reconfigured Rucio : GGUS ticket open: https://ggus.eu/index.php?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=151401 : very long history. Some amount of time outs from Fermilab to CERN.
Redoing the layout of the EOS disk for protoDune and EOS. Up to now, it was read-only. It will be changed to read-write. Up to now it was only http transfers, and it might be changed to something else. It works in 9 out of the 14 sites.
Talking to EOS: The scope of the EOS token is not correct. Investigating how to get a token both for dcache and EOS.
One production user who can write everywhere, and individual users with a limited directory.
Each site can define the top level directory. At CERN, the top level sill be something like /eos/projects/... dune... . It is important to get this agreed soon.
For information: Dune developing a global pool. It will be done in a similar way like CMS. Different people will be able to submit jobs from different centers, using different options, so more distributed
Steven was named DUNE liason to Fermilab experiment communities. Communication should go through him.
The DUNE collaboration meeting overlaps with CHEP.
There was an email about how many machine don't have to be upgraded from CentOS7 to 8? 2024 is the EOL for CentOS7.
Ignacio: It might be better to update things to c8, since the maintenance for c7 will be dropped.
Steve will forward the mail, and Ignacio and pablo can follow that up with the linux team.
Steven: There are a lot of issues with legacy hardware on c8. RAID controllers and fiber channels that are more than 5 years ago might cause trouble. Most of our machines are pretty new, so they should not be affected
