INSPIRE provides an infrastructure that brings together research activities in clinical proton therapy centres with research in ion therapy and industrial research in this field across Europe. Proton and heavier ion therapy is a new type of radiotherapy for cancer treatment that has the potential to sterilise the tumour while producing less damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. INSPIRE includes 17 partners, it includes the 2 major manufacturers of proton therapy equipment and the major clinical centres for proton therapy across Europe and thus provides a pipeline for both technological innovation and the translation of research into clinical practice. INSPIRE also provides a route for those looking to access this new technology to learn about it and conduct experiments through INSPIRE’s TNA.INSPIRE’s capabilities and how to access its facilities can be found at https://protonsinspire.eu/
This talk will highlight what has been achieved through INSPIRE’s networking, transnational access and joint research activities and the desire for strong collaborations.
