AdS/CFT and condensed matter physics

I will first give a general overview of how the AdS/CFT correspondence has been applied to study field theories relevant to condensed matter physics. I will then describe the extension of AdS/CFT ideas to describe field theories with non-relativistic conformal symmetry, which has interesting applications in condensed matter and extends our general understanding of holography.
