Seminar

Probing the universe at the intersection of gravity and particle physics

by Zachary Picker (The University of Sydney)

Australia/Sydney
Description

The intersection of gravity and particle physics is perhaps the next frontier of fundamental physics. At the same time, astro-particle phenomenology and observation is providing fresh testing grounds for theory and highlighting its most important tensions, such as the nature of dark matter. My research focuses on bridging the gap between those two areas by exploring the observational consequences of new theory ideas for primordial black holes, axions, and modified gravity. With this framing in mind, in this talk I will (briefly) review my Ph.D. research on cosmological black holes and two-axion models, especially in the context of dark matter.
