Possible implementation of quantum algorithms for the integration of elementary particle processes

For over 40 years, quantum computing has intrigued and amazed scientists and non-scientists
in its future possibility for solving problems that are intractable using classical computing. We
are at an exciting inflection point in quantum computing. Thanks to its role in HEP and more
broadly in European and international scientific research, CERN has compelling requirements for
its future instruments and infrastructures. Quantum computing is poised to potentially have an
impact on machine learning and simulations. In this seminar a quantum routine for the integration
of elementary particle-physics processes will be introduced, looking at scattering processes such
as e+e q ̄q and e+e q ̄qW . Interesting area of research is the loading of corresponding
probability distributions on a quantum computer, different approaches will be discussed: quantum
Generative Adversarial Networks, quantum Born machine and exact method. The distributions
are then integrated using the method of Quantum Amplitude Estimation which shows a quadratic
speed-up with respect to classical techniques. Results and comparisons among different techniques
will be discussed for real implementation on NISQ devices.
