PS Machine Report (A. Lasheen)

SPS Machine Report (Kevin Shing Bruce LI)

Safety (E. Dho, J. Devine, L. Di Giulio)

n_TOF (M. Bacak)

Significant down time due to safety chain issue (Sunday 0:30 - Monday 11:30): no beam or access possible. Access @ 12:00 and change of setups until 20:30. Thanks to the excellent communication with the PS coordinator/operators and all teams involved that helped to resolve this issue.

Experiments continue:

East Area Beam Status (B. Rae, D. Banerjee, J. Bernhard)

T09 operation progressing well. Next week we will switch to the low momentum configuration for SHEPRA removing all beam instrumentation and completing the vacuum up to the SHERPA setup. The beam configurations required will be checked this weekend and the settings will be saved. As we will not have instrumentation to monitor the secondary beam it will be important to have the proton beam on target also constant.
Nothing to report for T10/T11.

East Area Users Tour de Table

T8: IRRAD and CHARM (G.Pezzullo)

Weekly access went well.
In IRRAD we removed some of the samples (target fluence achieved) from LHCb (Defect Modeling on High fluence Planar Sensors) and re-installed back in the vortex box. Other samples for TE-MSC has been removed since they reached the target fluence. The Photodiode for SET measurements (R2E) will stay in IRRAD for another week. All other experiments continue (ATLAS Pixel, TE-MSC, etc.) Moreover an electro valve has been changed on one of the pumping group (T08.093) due to radiation damage. In CHARM continuing with NanoFIP (BE-CEM), QPS electronics and TE-MPE test.
Beam intensity is good (often between 1.5-2E14 p/h).
Yesterday Wed 22-06 after the access was over, we gave the possibility to OP to optimise the T8 beam (main issue=removing beam tail on BPM1 (X-axis)), trying a lots of different settings. At the end OP decided to roll back to previous settings, since the sweep on BPM1 was hard to remove. Some optics calculation are needed. We will try to redo this exercise next week on Tue or Wed after the CHARM/IRRAD access is over. In this case we will try also to install some Gafchromic film in order to better understand the beam shape after OP modifications.

T9: ALICE FoCal - Done (Abderrahmane GHIMOUZ)

T9: STORM - Outgoing (Stefano Carsi)

Measured beam divergence and purity for august beamtest
Characterized: lead glass calorimeter, scintillator-lead sampling calorimeter, PbWO crystals and BGO crystals readout by SiPMs. Still to do: characterize a new trigger system for the future beamtests

T9: SHERPA - Week 26 (Speaker)

T10: ALICE ITS3 (P. Martinengo)

Data taking on-going (~ 1 chip/day), quite good beam conditions
Dosimeter reader in the hall doesn’t work
Rain in the hall (storage zone), T10 ok

AWAKE (Giovanni Zevi Della Porta)

Summary of Week 24 and early 25:

After several days of investigations, there is now a clear correlation between RF-related instabilities of the 3E11 proton bunch and our inability to set up eSSM with this bunch.

We continued working with the 2E11 and 1E11 bunches, while giving beamtime also to SPS RF experts to work on the instability. Took several physics datasets: (i) electron-SSM vs RIF-SSM studies with different charge combinations, adiabatic focusing, SMI/SSM with large-optics beam.

Plan for Week 25/26/27: 2.5 weeks of access until next run, when we hope to take data with 3E11 beam if it is stable.

Full day-by-day report added to Indico agenda.

North Area Beam Status

H2, H4, H6, and H8 Beams (B. Rae, N. Charitonidis, D. Banerjee, A. Baratto Roldan, A. Gerbershagen, J. Bernhard)

H2/H4 (Nikos, Bastien): No issues.
H6 (Dipanwita): No issues.
H8 (Anna, Johannes): Vacuum completed through PPE158 for Atlas Tilecal and beam instrumentation installed.

P42 and K12 Beams (J. Bernhard)

Still issues from time to time with access magnets in P42, mostly due to Bend 5 power supply main circuit breaker, for which there is no straight-forward solution yet. We reduced intensity on T10 (and thus on T4) on request of NA62. Now 70 units on T4 and 35 units on T10.

M2 Beam (D. Banerjee)

Finer tuning of the alignment of the beam was done. There was an issue with one of the quadrupoles that was not pulsing correctly. First line was called and this has been solved.

North Area Users Tour de Table

H2: CALICE SiW-ECAL and AHCAL (V. Boudry, K. Krueger, R. Poeschl)

Quick return:

Small issues:

Conclusions: exceptionnal reactivity of the technical teams, but still 2 weeks are almost mandatory for large systems, any additional week for AHCAL standalone (staying on-site) would be appreciated.

H2: NA61 Shine (W. Brylinski)

Preparation for the run ongoing (T2K target suppert installed, GEM-BPD to be intalled and commissioned on the beam today).

H4: NA63 - Outgoing (Speaker)

H4: LHCb ECAL (Speaker)

H4: CMS BRIL - Week 26 (Suat Ozkorucuklu)

We are getting ready for test beam. Tehre is no problem so far.

H6: ATLAS MALTA - Parasitic (Speaker)

H6: ATLAS ITK PIXEL (Andre Rummler)

Data taking with RD53B quad is ongoing; sw development under testing (module definition, sub producers, investigation of desynch). Furthermore attempts with data merging. Threshold scan with unirradiated SCC conducted. Currently irradiated RD53A with 50um in work. Irradiated RD53B are delayed.

H6: EP Hybrid - Parasitic (Vagelis Gkougkousis)

Stable data taking ongoing with single pixel irradiated 3Ds and planars. Micrometric aliglent colpleted last week and we intend to keep the setup unchanged until the next MD. some software developpements but no need for any acceess forseen from our side.

H6: ALICE ITS (P. Martinengo)

Telescope & DUTs aligned (40x40 um devices), less than 10 evt/spill

H6: RD42 - Outgoing (Speaker)

H6: EP Pixel - Week 26 (Dominik Dannheim)

Plan to test APTS 65 nm prototypes with precision time reference in the existing CLICdp Timepix3 telescope setup in H6B. Will need a few hours of setup time on Wednesday morning. Would then again profit from running a highest possible rates and with smallest possible beam profile, to maximise the hit rate on the small sensitive area of the device under test. (As far as compatible with MALTA run program.)

H8: CMS MTD - Outgoing (B. Marzocchi)

Besides the general issue of the beam availability, everything went smoothly and we could take good data without any additional problem. In order to collect more data we will probably run parasitically on July from the 13th to the 27th if allowed.

H8: ATLAS Tile (G.Usai)

Transition with previous users was smooth.
We are finalising the installation (some glitches with fw) of the new electronics.
We plan to close the area and have beam on by late evening today.

K12: NA62 (R.Piandani)

Yesterday we asked to lower a bit the intensity on T10, we asked something around 35e11 on T10 (our 100% intensity), in the past weeks the intensity was constantly around 37/38e11 (not bad for the DAQ but degradation in the data quality in some detector). We are not providing feedback from our side to the RF configuration 400 ms RF stop after flat top and voltage setting at 0.5MV.
Still some problems when closing the acces with the two access magnet in P42 beam line.

M2: COMPASS (A. Moretti)

M2: MuonE (Speaker)
