Call for proposals

  • Opening day
  • Submission deadline

Dear participants of the CSC schools in 2022 and 2021,

Inverted CERN School of Computing is a week-long school, organised in March at CERN and online, where the classes are prepared and given by former CSC students (=you!).

If you are interested in giving one or more hours of lectures (or lectures and hands-on exercises) at Inverted CSC 2023, please prepare and submit a proposal before Sunday, November 6th, 2022.

You are invited to submit proposals even if you are not based at CERN. If you are accepted as a lecturer, you will either give the class remotely, or physically at CERN (details are to be decided). NB: if you want, you may co-author a series of lectures or exercises with another colleague.

After the submission deadline (November 6th), the CSC Programme Committee will review all proposals, and will make the selection - you can expect to hear back from us in late November or early December. Depending on the number of submissions, we might not be able to accept all proposals. Submitting a clear, good quality proposal increases your chances of being invited to lecture at the Inverted CSC 2023.

Important notes:

  • To get a better feeling of possible iCSC topics, please check the classes at the iCSC 2020 and iCSC 2019.
  • As all CSC schools, the Inverted CSC is not a conference where lecturers present their projects and achievements, nor a training session to teach a particular technology. We seek academic lectures on topics related to scientific computing, relevant for particle physics etc. that you are knowledgeable about, and that you would like to share your vision and a passion for.
  • The default class length is one hour of lecture. If you have a lot of material to cover, and/or past experience in teaching the given topic, you may propose two hours of lectures. We also welcome proposals for hands-on exercises to complement your lecture(s).
  • If you have any questions, in particular concerning your possible class (e.g. does it fit the Inverted CSC, how many hours etc.), please don't hesitate to contact Sebastian.Lopienski@cern.ch.
The call for abstracts is closed.
