The role of active galaxies in galaxy evolution and the exascale future of radio astronomy

by Dr Eleni Vardoulaki (Thüringer Landessternwarte Tautenburg)

Europe/Athens
Description

I will give a general introduction on active galaxies, what they are and how they affect their host galaxies and surrounding environment. Furthermore I will present how we use multi-wavelength data from the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS) to study galaxy evolution and how active galaxies affect that. Finally I will give an outlook for the exascale future of radio astronomy and how big data is shaping the future of research.
