Date: 2011-01-26 Participants: DS Davide Salomoni (INFN) FP Florido Paganelli (LU) MS Mischa Salle (NIKHEF) OK Oscar Koeroo (NIKHEF) JW John White (CERN) BH Bjoern Hagemeier (JUELICH) SM Shahbaz Memon (JUELICH) Apologies from Eric, but recieved feedback via email. Agenda: ------ 1- What is in and not in the scope of EMI cloud task force (aligned with technical development plan) ? 2- What to do with the existing EMI middleware cloud integrations? 3- Step towards the next milestone - ARC, g-Lite, and UNICORE's cloud specific high level requirements and use cases. Minutes: ------- 1- What is in and not in the scope of EMI cloud task force (aligned with technical development plan) ? * Vision statement: To integrate with the Cloud and virtual infrastructure management tools * Ambiguity: Grid in a cloud scenario (Virtualized AGU service instances) or Cloud via a Grid scenario or both? * Collaborations are discussed, more details from the DNA2.1.1-Collboration programmes deliverables were also discussed. * SM proposed to use OpenNebula, which is a common denominator in StratusLab and Venus-C projects. * DS argued: before coming to any decision the task force has to be careful while designing any integration solution adapting OpenNebula as a Cloud or Virtual Infrastructure Management middleware solutions. It is because the components developed for the production infrastructures must ensure that they don't demand radical alteration or new installation in the exsting deployed systems configurations or scripts. In this case OpenNebula team will be contacted for any existing LRMSs integration plugins. * Conclusion: The scope will be more vivid once the requirements are formalized. And contact VIM vendors for more insight. * SM created the collaboration page on Wiki. The latest highlight is the Venus-C architecture. 2- What to do with the existing EMI middleware cloud integrations? * Task force should - Give advice about where to put EMI services within a cloud's multi-tiered architecture - Integrating Authn / Authz mechanisms are also important and need to be considered within requirements. In this course, the task force will analyze Argus security solution. - Find out the application specific requirements 3- Step towards the next milestone - ARC, g-Lite, UNICORE, Argus, and Hydra cloud specific high level requirements and use cases. - Both WNoDE and StratusLab testbed would be available in Feb at ASGC. We are now rearrange our resources to accommodate newly shipped servers online. - Team has to start with user scenarios and integration proposals - Argus team will also provide their integration plans and requirements - Hydra integration: JW introduced Hydra solution and its application in the real commercial scenarios. In order to have cloud support the Taskforce needs more discussion with the Hydra team. Actions: ------- - SM: Discuss with OpenNebula community over the LRMS support in the upcoming Reservoir workshop - DS: Update wiki with WNodes links - SM: Requirements and User scenarios template - All: Requirements contribution - All: Evaluate StratusLab reference toolkit (For more details contact SM) - Eric: Provide application and infrastructure specific requirements
