Description
We present the status of the KIT-R&D on HTS-Roebel-cables, their performance, the current carrying capability, AC losses, occurring hints of the cable design and prospects of such cables for the future as application of filament structures. For big magnets as in fusion technology, a Rutherford cable structure with Roebel-strands was proposed and experimental investigations started. Coated-conductor-cable-in-conduit designs are considered as alternative methods. MgB2 is another choice for applications at lower temperatures with the advantage of round wires and cheap material costs. In this case, thin wires are in particular suited to assemble cables. The preliminary results for such cables will be presented as well.
