Testing Dirac and Majorana Neutrino mass models with Neff and LFV

by Anil Thapa (University of Virginia)

Australia/Sydney
Description
Observations of neutrino masses and oscillations provide strong evidence that the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics is incomplete and requires physics beyond the SM. Moreover, the nature of neutrinos, whether Dirac or Majorana, remains unconfirmed. I will focus on radiative models of Majorana neutrinos that can yield testable predictions for lepton flavor-violating processes. By tying the models to other observables beyond the SM, e.g., anomalies, dark matter, etc., we obtain testable predictions for LFV that allow for falsification and goalposts for experimental sensitivities. Additionally, I will discuss simple Dirac models that can lead to detectable deviations in Neff via upcoming CMB stage-IV experiments.
