SMWG meeting minutes Present: Alessandra, Michel, Graeme, Paul, Pete, Colin, Greig, Mark,Olivier Apologies: Ian Alessandra has created a "Basic Security" category as sub category of "Best Practices" in the wiki and started to fill it with articles. One of the most useful is on the jobs gone astray or daemons started by users on the worker nodes, which is a problem that was pointed out 2 or 3 weeks ago on the EGEE secuirty mailing lists. The article links to the repository where there are two scripts that can solve the problem. One written by David Groep to be called by the PBS mom epilogue and one written by Alessandra that can be used standalone. First one is recommended for sites using PBS. Alessandra sent the article to OSCT. Romain added it in the OSCT RSS feeds. Alessandra asked OSCT if they agree to write other best practices in the wiki and put pointer in the RSS feeds rather than writing only the short RSS feed. Romain agreed on this. In the repository there is also a 3rd script written by Akos Frohner to check the correct installation of certificates and CRLs on grid services machines. The scripts all have the banner as decided. There is a page on the WEB site that has links to 3 different policies BSD,GPL and EGEE. If by any chance someone wants to use other licences we will add the links to the page. Each script committed to the repository should have a corresponding wiki article that describes what the script is trying to solve and how it works and a link to the repository as the above mentiuoned article about processes gone astray. The certificate checking script doesn't have an article yet. Alistair Mills and Kay Neuffer contacted Alessandra and Michel about the DSA1.5 EGEE deliverable that Kay has to complete. They propose a cooperation for the chapter of fabric management and monitoring in the EGEE cookbook. We should invite Kay to participate to the group. Michel proposed to discuss on the mailing list the possibility to give talks at Hepix in April he will send an email to the mailing list. Also we should give a report about the progress. We should publicise more what we do. Perhaps if by next week the site has a bit more content we should send an email to lcg-rollout and hepix to see if more people want to participate. Actions ======= Colin, Graeme: move the few articles about cfengine from gridpp wiki to the sysadmin.hep.ac.uk one. Greig: commit to the repository the dcache management scripts that are now in the gridpp wiki. He has to ask permission to dcache people but doesn't foresee any problem. Peter: Write about his experience with MonAMI Paul and ask Chris Brew about ganglia scripts. If Chris doesn't have time Peter offered to commit them and document them (?) Michel: send an email to the mailing list for hepix, write a small introduction about quattor that points to the Quattor working group WEB site. No need to rewrite anything if it is already there. Add to the wiki his document about the upgrade to SL4 for grid sites. Alessandra: send an email to lcg-rollout about the group and the site. Next Meeting ============ 4th April 2007 4 pm UK, 5 pm CERN, 8 am California.
