Meeting for LS3 Vacuum Insulation activities (Meeting #1)

MINUTES:
Paolo: he reminds the subject to be treated, specifying that RF treats independently the Vacuum insulation aspects (at least this was up to now.
Marzia: she asks how VSC is organized for all this (including activities in the Arc, not only in LSS)
Jaime: he clarifies that they are divided in 2 “activities competencies”: Beam Vacuum and Insulation Vacuum
He expects that 2 Coordinators will be named for those activities in LS3 inside VSC
He clarifies that since 2023 a new Section on “Operation of Insulation Vacuum” was created, anyway, he will remain as a “reference for all of these types of activities.
Serge: he “defends” the point to do as we did in the past, even for LS3 and HL there will be the aspects of risk of “competing teams” as was the case for LHC Installation.
Paolo: he reminds that for LHC Paul was organizing the activities for VSC and as He gas was normally injected via the jumpers (but sometimes via gas bottles)
Rama: they would like to revisit the “special situation”; there is a MEMO circulating between RF and VSC on that, to be followed.
Paolo: he brings to the schedule aspects: QXL installation (with QRL in //) à Q1-Q2 2027.
Discussed the “policy” by CRG and VSC: VSC will for sure do the final validation but will be present to be there also before to anticipate eventual problems.
What is needed is: power and compressed air.
Jaime: remind as in general, they will need ~3 weeks to have everything pumped down for test. For that test they will be fully responsible. But for in intervention before, they will provide support but they will be not responsible
Andrew: QXL is to be done as is done SQXL: a mix of clamp tests with a global injection.
For QRL should, in principle, be pressurized from the adjacent Sector. To avoid this, it could probably to be pressurized from the QXL but this need a study (e.g. identify the last interconnection to be kept open, etc) à ACTION CRG
Serge: probably preferable to do the QXL before the QRL. In this case, installation of the magnets is to be done as the QXL part completed
General discussion brings to this conclusion: the best solution would be probably to install as first the “new” QRL part till the junction module. This to free the Arc(s) for other eventual interventions, test (e.g. magnets, diodes, etc.).
Yann: for SCLink which should be installed before the magnets, to be analyze the best configuration for testing.
Jaime: he reminds that a vacuum test just after the manipulation/installation of SCLink is to be planned.
Jumpers: they will, in principle, be cut all by VSC just before arriving of the adjacent equipment.
In case one equipment (e.g CC) not arriving as planned, jumpers should be not cut to permit the other test.
NEXT MEETING: to be planned, possibly subjects driven by Groups/WPs.
