- Transfer line from the HE linac to the Booster is in the order of 10 km.
- Bends in H & V planes, with >90 degrees of bending in horizontal.
- Reasonable quadrupole strength imposes a FODO cell length of a few 10s of meters and dispersion 2-3 m.
- Present designs use ~1000 dipoles and ~400 quadrupoles.
- Dispersion in the line is also used for R56 control.
- Geometrical emittance is small -> minor contribution to the required transfer line aperture.
- Strong constraint on energy spread to limit the required aperture around 40mm.
- Request to limit relative energy spread provided by the HE linac dp/p <= 2.5E-3
