• Single turn winding of QXF cable on inner first large spacer meant to test 4 variants of combination and strength of Hard/soft bending, torsion in the Space domain. The purpose is mainly to benchmark the calculation methodology towards more predictive series of sample tests ( cable torsion test…).
  • All cases show more or less level of strand pop ups either on start or end of spacer corner. Fuji film gives qualitative foot print of cable.
  • Cases with minimised strain energy do not show necessarily best winding configuration which could be explained through additional others influential parameters
  • As discussed, for 12T type of blocks, the cumulated gap turn to turn and inclination is an important design factor wit respect to coil surface.
  • Inverted pitch of cable sample did not show better results than normal one
  • Option C amongst others is visually the most satisfactory. Some more tests in this type of variant will continue in SMT to be defined as function of needs
  • To support 12T coil design, AF mentioned that he will investigate with MSC-TM as a check, how far off are the current section v3.03 head parameters once optimised, with respect to the retrofitted LHC dipole head Roxie model.
