- Jeremie and Dominique brings up the possible failure mode to attention. What if one of the magnet coils have shorts between turns ? The power converter will still provide the current but the magnetic field will be lower. As a result the circulating beam will have a net kick.
- Richard and Jan: How to implement it ? At Power converter level where the voltage will drop due to short circuit can be taken as the input to WIC.
- Jeremie: short will likely be between two layers rather than two adjascent turns given how normal conducting magnets are constructed. Given that, one layer short would reduce about 16% of the magnetic field in that coil. Dominique and Jan will look into the net kick of the beam for this field change.
