Description
Heavy-flavor production measurements in proton‒proton (pp) collisions offer stringent tests of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) calculations and serve as an essential baseline for heavy-ion collisions studies. Azimuthal correlations of lepton pairs from heavy-flavor hadron decays are sensitive to heavyflavor production mechanisms and, ins heavy-ion collisions, to in-medium energy loss effects. In this work, we focus on a particularly clean channel: electron‒muon pairs from heavy-flavor hadron decays. This signature allows for a clean measurement by strongly suppressing backgrounds from electromagnetic processes such as Drell‒Yan production and resonance decays. The ALICE detector provides a unique capability for this study due to the large rapidity gap between the electron and muon detection regions. This feature suppresses near-side jet correlations and enables access to long-range correlations, offering new sensitivity to multiparton interactions and collective flows in small systems. We report the current status of the analysis of transverse-momentum‒inclusive azimuthal correlations of electron‒muon pairs from heavy-flavor hadron decays in pp collisions at √s = 13.6 TeV.
