LAST MEETING:

• motors offer will come (confirmed by manufacturer)
• gearbox offer to followup (Morad: after return from CAS so far no answer)
• 37 motors + gearboxes needed, for NACONS for the LS3 installation there is only ±10 needed
• USA material, but probably ordered by EU representative so we avoid non-EU purchase

 

Morad informs, that some gearbox types are available in radiospares. Option to buy what they have and check conformity.

 

Federico: We should ask more money on NACONS for 2025 (either add to running project, or ask as a new contribution)

For the motors + gearbox we wait until Morad gets full price offer

● Design Flex

Aurelie: we might be able to use short radiation tolerant cables, SHV radhard connectors are needed on patchbox.

Michel: High voltage bias goes through one of the pins in 2x SUBD 26 high density connectors. Signals are connected by crimping. This is standard done in ISOLDE and we'll re-copy to the new installations.

Chiara: Control 1+2 will be done in ML. First done by Ben or William, second by  Morad or Christophe). The third control will be in PM section, either David or Michel.

 

TODO Lucas: present on the next meeting already available 3D models

● BSI Et BSP à remplacer au prochain YETS

Christophe confirms, that all foils are the titanium version. Confirms as well that all the tanks are available.

● Integration

• There are some naming conventions to change due to changes in installation. The new names are proposed in 'Secondary Emission Monitors (SEM) activities for the SPS NA CONS Part 1 project' specification, soon to be released.
• Aurelie points out criticality of contacting integration team as on some locations we'll need more than just changing the name. Christophe informs that there are 2 locations, where is no space for additional BSG and we will need to discuss with integration how to deal it - either change position of BSG, or move magnet to make a space.

 

TODO Aurelie: contact F. Galieazzi and/or Sylvain Girod to start discussion of the integration. Christophe provides necessary info to Aurelie for follow up on integration.

F: Ask Chiara if she can include more money in critical spares. If not, beginning next year, there's review of costs, where we can ask for more money.

2. TODO David: clarify with Federico whether a BIFT presentation should be made by operators for installations not needing movable parts

F: Proposed to create a table with all the equipment, specifying: name, position, fecname, #of channels, stepping/dc motor, fixed or not. With this table to discuss with OP whether there are motors,which might be fixed in the position.

3. TODO Morad: get completed offer for motors + gearboxes

 

DISCUSSION

• Morad informs about the pricing: Motor = 200CHF, embrayage = 250CHF -> 450CHF/motor. With ~37 motors to be ordered this amounts to ~17000CHF, with some margin 20kCHF.
• We will foresee 10kCHF for additional spares. 
• Chiara: we will pay motors+embrayage by critical spares budget

 

After some discussion, we all agreed, that we provide the assemblies such, that all devices will be equipped with the motors. In any case, OP will always request movable units even though some of them are actually in fixed positions.

• 2x SUBD26 per device, installed 500mm from the beamline -> lot of radiation
  
• usage of PEEK for radiation tolerance insterad of MACOR, PEEK is less fragile
  
• A: if MACOR version exists in commerce, we should better order those than make our own
• In the target use MACOR, more rad tolerant
  
• Proposition: totally ±30 connectors to be produced, mostly PEEK, but 6 connectors to be done for TBIU in MACOR
• A: T6 target 500kGray/year 
  
• C: according to max rad dose we will do all in PEEK. No MACOR required.
  
• Material of FLEX: capton

C, Mo: we validate the design, and we try to deliver for YETS24-25

TODO Chiara: Deliver prototype head assembly for YETS24-25

A: Should we prepare ECR for the new design with flex?

M: Idea is to prepare in the lab assembly of flange+detector to see for discrepancies

DISCUSSION

 

• Aurélie organized a meeting with physicists to discuss the status and performance of the 3 new BSG
• Two options are in focus:
  • Either we move 3 magnets,
  • or we make a new tank with BSM + new BSG in T2 and T4. 

 

The latter is the preferred variant. Lucas already well advanced the tank design. 

TODO Lucas, Morad: Before 14 august provide the design of the tank comprising BSM and BSG - will be used in the meeting with the integration team

• Agreed that document will be released in the EDMS, but will not be circulated for approbation. The info in the document is local for beam instrumentation, other teams not needed to be involved for the moment.
• In any case, we can always follow up with specific people, asking their opinion about the document.

M: Frichot looks for external company to make Ti grids. They have found producer for 0.8mm. This is plan B if at CERN we're not able to produce 0.5mm.

L: 2 companies: germany, finland

 

• 5m of 0.01mm Ti wire was ordered by Morad (5kCHF), other 5 metres have to be ordered. Will improve spending profile.

 

To improve on spending profile:
