M3PL1-01: High Power Electrification in Aerospace and Defense Applications Enabled by Cryocooled Systems

Description

This talk will showcase the transformative role of cryogenically cooled technologies in enabling next-generation high-power electrification for aerospace and defense applications. It will present the rationale for deploying multi-megawatt-class electric powertrains to drive greater efficiency and lower emissions in future aircraft. The session will highlight the key technical challenges involved in realizing ultra-efficient, power-dense systems—particularly those incorporating cryogenically cooled and superconducting components. Special emphasis will be placed on the unique requirements and opportunities within defense platforms, highlighting cross-domain synergies between advanced aerospace technologies and their application across space, land, and sea systems. The talk will also share RTX’s perspective on the current state of the art and emerging innovations shaping the future of aerospace and defense electrification.
