The Georges Charpak Young Scientist Award
Georges Charpak, the inventor of the Multiwire Proportional Chamber and 1992 Physics Nobel Prize winner has dedicated part of his life in the encouragement of young scientists in their scientific work, engaging collaborations and promoting great achievements that are in the origin of our field.
The Georges Charpak Young Scientist Award will reward the best talk and the best poster presented by young scientists under the age of 35. The candidates shall declare if they are eligible at the time of their registration.
The juri will be composed by senior scientists present in the conference, who will decide who are the winners and will deliver the monetary prize during one of the sessions of the conference.
Anton Oed Prize
The ILL Anton Oed Prize is awarded by the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) to individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of Micro-Pattern Gas Detectors (MPGDs). The prize was established in memory of Anton Oed, who invented the micro-strip gas chamber (MSGC), a type of MPGD. The prize includes a 1000 Eur award and a plaque.
The Anton Oed Prize aims to encourage the innovative spirit and problem-solving abilities that were crucial to the development of MPGDs.
The prize was first awarded in 2019 to Rui de Oliveira for his major contribution to the development of micropattern gas detectors. In 2022 it was awarded to Rob Veenhof and, in 2024, to Leszek Ropelewski.
