
Third announcement - 2nd of April, 2026
Registration and call for abstracts are open for the 9th Conference on Micropattern Gaseous Detectors, which will be held from the 31st of August to the 4th of September, 2026, in the Masarikova Kolej Conference Centre, in Prague, Czech Republic, hosted by the Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics, Czech Technical University in Prague.
The upcoming important dates are:
24 April: Abstract submission deadline
22 May: Announcement of abstract acceptance
1 July: Early registration ends
14 August: Registration closes
The opening session will be held by Stanislav Pospišil (IEAP CTU in Prague), and a selection of brilliant invited speakers will enrich the conference by reviewing topics such as timing detectors (Jerry Va’vra, SLAC, ret.), X- and gamma-ray polarimetry in space (Paolo Soffitta, INAF-IAPS), detectors based on Timepix (Michael Campbell, CERN), silicon detectors with gain (Gregor Kramberger, Jožef Stefan Institute), MPGD production techniques (Rui de Oliveira, CERN), GridPix detectors (Jochen Kaminski, University Bonn) and the status of CERN’s Future Circular Collider (Oliver Kortner, MPP Munich).
The Anton Oed Prize, rewarding a major contribution to the development of MPGDs by a scientist presently active in the field, will be awarded during the conference and we invite all members of our community to e-mail their nominations to the Juri panel (oedprize@ill.fr).
The nominations should contain a few lines supporting the candidate and should be sent until the 15th of May.
The Georges Charpak Young Scientist Award for the best oral and the best poster presentations by physicists under the age of 35 will recognise the work of young researchers and will also be awarded during the conference.
Instructions for accommodation can be found on the conference’s website. A limited number of single and double rooms in two different hotels located in the historical centre of Prague, at special fees for our conference participants have been booked and we encourage the registrants to make their reservations as soon as possible to have access to the discounted fees.
