The Higgs boson is an essential ingredient in the Standard Model, but it has not been observed yet.
In this talk we review the main production channels of the Standard Model Higgs boson at hadron colliders and we illustrate the recent theoretical progress
in the computation of the corresponding cross sections. We also comment on the implications of these results for the ongoing search at the Tevatron and the LHC.
