A lot of feedback also via email that we need some lightning talks, poster session, summary of abstracts or something. Idea to have some Joker talks for the experiments. Or better yet maybe a few joker talks that anyone including the experiments could submit too?
Experimental speakers - discussion on how the experimental speakers will be selection. The experiment contacts (Monica, Maurizio, Yasmine) will talk to their speakers committees about this. But we aim like other topic conferences that either we get a list of possible speakers and select or we send a recommended list to the experiments. It is clear that we need strong speakers
What about recent LHC results? We would emphasize discussing future avenues but we also want to know the current state-of-the-art. We don’t want standard experiment ‘highlight’ talks. Rather a selected set of results that fit well to the theme.
Ideas on possible themes
Change to ‘Discovery now at the LHC: new capacities at/for the LHC.’ Discovery is the foundation here. This should be the emphasis.
The experiments have tremendous progress in terms of calibration and reconstruction. This should be highlighted. Maybe some bread-and-butter talks to bring communities up to speed on what progress we have had
Where do theory uncertainties then start to bite us?
Next steps:
Break out to the programming committee to come up with a more detailed proposal of the agenda and themes and bring this back to the IOC.
