Description

The new version of the well-known Pythia event generator is introduced and reviewed. Several recent studies are summarized, such as improved process-generic behaviour of showers, multiparton interactions with rescattering and an x-dependent proton size, diffractive events, and modelling of BSM physics notably in Hidden Valley scenarios. Prospects and first experience with tunes to LHC data will also be presented, and finally future directions of program development.
