Public transport

Public transport in Vilnius includes trolleybuses and buses.

Purchasing tickets

  • For short trips, there are 2 types of tickets: 30 min, and 60 min (you can change buses during the ticket duration)
  • If you read Lithuanian and have a Lithuanian phone number, you can purchase public transport tickets on Android or iOS using the m.Ticket app
  • Purchasing tickets is possible on Android or iOS using the Trafi app
    • Minimum purchasing price – 5 euros (you can buy several tickets at once and use them for several trips)
    • The ticket must be activated on the phone when entering the bus/trolleybus
  • Contactless payment is available in every bus/trolleybus
  • All ticket types and prices

Price discounts

EU or EEC citizens and others who have a Lithuanian residence permit (temporary or permanent) are eligible for 80% discount on public transport in Vilnius if they have an International Student Identity Card (ISIC).

  • You can plan your trips on Android or iOS using the Trafi app (you can also purchase tickets there, but only in multiples).

Note that the bus and a trolleybus can have the same number, but their routes are different!
