Description

On December 3, 2024, the Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, in collaboration with the American University of Bahrain (AUBH), hosted a distinguished celebration marking the 70th anniversary of CERN. The event began with a welcome and networking session, during which guests were invited to explore the "Search" exhibition, an integral part of the Shaikh Ebrahim Center. The exhibition, housed in an adjacent building, offered a curated journey through CERN’s scientific legacy and its evolving collaboration with Bahrain, guided by knowledgeable hosts available throughout the evening.

The formal program included opening remarks by H.E. Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Board of Trustees at the Shaikh Ebrahim Center, followed by welcome notes from Dr. Bradley J. Cook, President of AUBH. The evening featured a keynote address by Professor John Ellis CBE FRS of King’s College London, one of the world’s leading theoretical physicists. A thought-provoking panel session explored the theme “Science, Innovation, and Economic Growth: Leveraging CERN’s Research for Bahrain’s Development,” followed by an awards ceremony recognizing contributions to science and education.

The celebration concluded with an exclusive VIP dinner at Buzaboon House, a heritage home within the Shaikh Ebrahim Center. The dinner offered a memorable setting that united Bahrain’s historical charm with the spirit of scientific advancement—creating a unique fusion of art, culture, and science.
