Description
We present an interdisciplinary research project aiming to foster high-school students’ future-oriented agency and support their participation in public debate on the energy transition. The study focuses on Sardinia (Italy), where renewable-energy policies have triggered intense social tensions. First, we conducted ethnographic fieldwork to examine the opposition movement and how it resonates within schools. Second, we adapt an energy-system model based on the Modelling to Generate Alternatives approach to enable students to critically explore a range of plausible decarbonisation pathways. Finally, we will pilot and evaluate the resulting educational tools in schools within the communities involved in the study.
