General news:

• DRD3 spokesperson elections are coming up, and a search committee has been formed
• The next DRD3 week takes place in Amsterdam, 2nd to 6th of June. It is advisable to think both about abstracts and accommodation options already now
  • The WG4 session block is scheduled on the Thursday morning (5th of June)

Jörn Schwandt presented work on the Determination of Trapping Rates as Input for Allpix Squared Simulations

• Inconsistencies between frameworks should be avoided; trapping rates are often simply taken from literature
• Radiation damage models like the Hamburg Pentatrap Model match data well for a range of fluences and bias voltages
• Electric fields and trap occupations and trapping times vary with sensor depth and bias voltage
  • Allpix Squared needs the possibility to import trapping time maps for more accurate modelling of the charge carrier motion after irradiation
• It is also important to account for impact ionisation at high irradiation levels

Questions and Answers:

• Marco M: Does the Perugia model use Trap Assisted Tunneling? Tommaso Croci: We don't use the Hurkx model. We use a different one, but TAT is used.
• Tommaso Croci: Why is the Hurkx model so important? JS: At very high fields TAT is needed, and the Hurkx model is easier.
• Michael Moll: How did you tune the gamma factor in the Hurkx TAT (slide 17)? JS: The F_gamma is a fixed value, only dependent on temperature.
• Michael Moll: How do you come to a global trapping time? For MIP or laser? JS: It's the average trapping time over the thickness of the sensor.
• Michael Moll: The holes are unexpected in the trapping (slide 8). Is this from the training data, or should we tune the model? JS: In old data with alpha-TCT this was seen too, but it's still an open question. Marco M: The slope of the fluence dependence is very consistent with data.
• Marco M: Why is TAT so important? Does it depend on the simualted structure, or is it more fundamental? JS: Already at low electric fields there's an imnpact, so it should be taken into account.
• Jürgen Burin: What's possible to do with traps in Allpix Squared, what's your goal with the studies? JS: What we're interested in is accurate test beam comparisons. The detrapping is not so important to us, we mainly need a trapping map, and impact ionisation. Håkan W: It should be relatively straightforward to implement trapping map reading in Allpix Sqaured at this point. Opening Gitlab issue for this.
