Salirnt points:

  1. We discussed the timeline of the European Strategy update and Peter offered valuable clarification of that process to inform us on the timeline for ASFAP, especially the role and importance of the open symposium. For ASFAP, the open symposium will be on September 22-25, 2025, at the Unviersity of Lome, Togo. On September 14-20, 2025, the 4th African Conference on Fudamental and Applied Physics, ACP2025, is planned at the same venue in Togo. This event has so far received about 600 registrations and upwards of 180 contributed abstracts. Since many folks involved in ASFAP are also participating in the organization of ACP2025, we encourage arranging one travel to attend both events (ACP2025 and ASFAP symposium).
  2. We will extend invitations to the IAC, the internatinal communities and the media to send representatives to the ASFAP symposium.
  3. We are making efforts to find some travel coverage. We encourage one co-author of each chapter to attend the symposium in person.
  4. On April 15, the ASFAP report was submitted to the IAC and UNESCO for feedback. So far, we have not received any, but the deadline to expect their feedback is June 15.
  5. Between June 15 and September 15, 2025, we should have addressed the UNESCO and IAC comments to produce Draft 2 of the report, which will be presented at the symposium. During same period, you may improve your chapter further, and you may still comment to improve other chapters.
  6. In the period of October - December, we should address feedback received at the open symposium and submit Draft 3 to UNESCO for language editing and formating.
  7. By early 2026, UNESCO will have the final report to be distributed to its member states.
  8. We request a fast turnaround to address comments timely.
  9. We will meet again after June 15, when hopefully we receive comments from UNESCO and the IAC.
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
