DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Florian Urs Bernlochner (University of Bonn (DE))\,
Sebastian Lauddage (University of Bonn (DE))\, Laura Rodríguez Gómez\, M
aike Christina Hansen (University of Bonn (DE))\n\nWorkshop on communicati
ng the physics of the smallest particles\nOrganizer:\nNetzwerk Teilchenwel
 t \nContent of the workshop:\n\nBasics of science communication \nPrepar
ing scientific content and methods for presentation to young people\nInter
active and participatory methods\nTips and suitable materials for clearly
conveying the physics of the smallest particles\nTheoretical learning unit
s\, practical exercises and reflection phases\nExchange of experiences on
masterclasses and student experiments for young people in particle physics
\, astroparticle physics and hadron and nuclear physics as well as local o
rganization in Netzwerk Teilchenwelt\n\n \nThe workshop offers both impul
ses from external speakers and the time for best practice exchange among p
articipants.\nEach workshop phase will feature distinguished speakers from
the field of science communication:\n\nScience journalist and lecturer on
science communication Evelyn Stahl will introduce you to the theoretical
background of science communication and conduct practical exercises.\nSub
stitute professor on particle physics Slavomira Stefkova will give an ove
rview on slide design.\nScience communicator David Ohse will teach you how
to develop games as a science communication tool.\n\n \nBeside practical
exercises\, the workshop also includes a personal video training. In a 3-
minute short presentation you will present a physics topic of your choice.
Afterwards you will receive feedback from our science communication train
ers\, especially regarding the clarity and style of your presentation.\nPa
rticipants:\nThe workshop targets Netzwerk Teilchenwelt facilitators (i.e.
people that perform Masterclasses\, workshops or labexperiments for (high
-) school students and the general public in particle\, astroparticle or h
adron physics) and those who want to become one. Please note\, that the nu
mber of participants is limited to 20. Also\, it is our concern that as ma
ny locations of the network as possible are represented. Therefore\, we as
k you for a short letter of motivation (in the registration formular). Du
ring the workshop we will also take a few pictures to be used for informat
ional purposes. Please fill the declaration of consent attached below and
send them to bonn@teilchenwelt.de after you registered for the workshop.\n
Language:\nThis workshop is held primarily in English with an option to pr
esent and receive feedback on your presentation in German.\nCosts:\nThe co
sts for the workshop are covered by Netzwerk Teilchenwelt through funding
of Wilhelm-und-Else-Heraeus-Stiftung\, i.e. participation is free of char
ge for you. This also includes the accomodation in the Physikzentrum in Ba
d Honnef and part of your travel costs.\nPreparation:\nPlease decide on a
physics topic for your 3-minute presentation in advance. It can be related
to your research or masterclass topic but it doesn't have to be. You don'
t need to prepare the slides in advance.\nWhat to bring:\nIf you want to s
how slides during your presentation\, it makes sense to bring your own lap
top. Please let us know if you need a laptop but can't bring one. The Phys
ikzentrum provides towels and bed sheets.\nRegistration:\nYou are enthusia
stic about science communication and want to extend your skills? \nPlease
  register here.\nRegistration is open until 3rd October. \n \n \n
