12:30 - 13:00
The post-inflationary dynamics of the Universe can be dramatically reshaped by non-perturbative phenomena. In this talk, I will present recent advances in understanding preheating in Higgs inflation within the framework of Einstein-Cartan gravity. Using large-scale lattice simulations, we demonstrate that the non-minimal coupling of the Higgs field can trigger the formation of localized and dense oscillon configurations, storing up to 70% of the energy density. These meta-stable objects can transiently dominate the energy budget, altering the thermal history and sourcing a strong gravitational wave signal, albeit at frequencies beyond the reach of planned detectors. In contrast, we also uncover a novel class of ephemeral oscillons that decay rapidly due to self-interactions at small field values, releasing their energy into radiation much more efficiently. This leads to a swift transition to a radiation-dominated epoch, constraining the duration of reheating and refining predictions for inflationary observables.
