Meeting Minutes – Injection Region Design

1. EDMS & Documentation

2. Upstream Pipe and Sextupole Interference

• Despite adding the extension pipe upstream of the injection dipole, a clear aperture conflict remains (radius 7.5 cm, Ø135 mm pipe) with the sextupole.

• Action: Eleonora and Marlene to consult P. Schwarz regarding the possibility of removing (shaving off) 2.5 cm from the sextupole.

• Could consider making the vapor source narrower?

3. Expansion Volume in Beamline

• Estimated space requirement: 30 cm (to be confirmed via thermal simulations).

• Apertures: Two apertures are preferred. No modifications expected post-installation; aperture plate can be thick.

• Shutters: May be needed. Number of operational cycles to be defined.

• Action: Eleonora, Marlene to send the electron beam envelope to Jim.

• Note: The gap in this region is very small (~30 cm).

• Action: Jim, Eleonora, Marlene check the distance between the last magnet and the focus.

4. Corrector + BPM Integration

• Concern: Does the corrector + BPM assembly fit within the available 250 mm space, including vacuum connection interfaces?

• Action: Integration check required to ensure compatibility.

• Action: Eleonora, Marlene to confirm with BI if possible
  

5. Plasma Extension Region

• Current distance between the two plasma cells: ~3.349 m.

• This distance was/is already in the CAD sent to GWA by Nicolas, so no change wrt that CAD

• Action: Marlene to discuss feasibility with Edu and present an update at the next CSCP meeting.

6. MPP Machine Shop Support

• Discussion: Identify which components can be fabricated by the MPP Machine Shop.

• Note: A possible visit to GWA in Munich was mentioned.
