Several theoretical models beyond the Standard Model (SM) suggest the existence of new type of particles with macroscopic lifetimes, long enough to allow for the distance between the particle production and decay points to be observable. The signatures of such particles require special reconstruction techniques to identify highly displaced decay vertices, short and long tracks, or tracks with high momenta. This talk focuses on charged heavy long-lived particles that should be moving non-relativistically and are therefore identifiable through the measurement of a large ionization energy loss within the Silicon Tracker of the CMS experiment. I will present an overview of strategies and the most recent results from CMS Experiment, as well as the Phase-2 Outer Tracker capabilities to extend CMS physics reach.
