Tape Station Intervention on Monday July 07
- tape broke on Friday June 27 while rewinding, noticed on Monday June 30 in the morning
- due to current run on HRS, intervention was planned for Monday July 07
- planned to repair the tape, but tape was damaged on several spots (not to see from the outside),
so decision was made to replace it
- intervention went fine, took a bit more time due to unforeseen preparation of the new tape, intervention was done at lunchtime
- vacuum leak was notice, Guillermo Merino (TE-VSC) was called to check after lunch
- checked all openings for vacuum leak, but no leak found (one o-ring of the tape station door was replaced to a small crack
at the gluing which can cause a leak, but this was not the case)
- seemed that it was just the tape outgasing, vacuum this morning was fine again

Many thanks to all involved!
On HRS, a run was carried out to measure the electron affinity of negative ions of Po isotopes at GANDALPH at CRIS. In previous years, producing negative ions at ISOLDE required inverting the polarity of several beamline elements, a relatively big task. This time, however, the experiment employed a clever method based on double charge exchange starting from positive ions, which is a very promising approach for future applications. Unfortunately, the run encountered several machine-related issues, and in the end, only a low-resolution measurement could be performed on Po, along with a repeated measurement of a previously studied case. Nevertheless, the experiment successfully demonstrated the feasibility of the technique and made the best possible use of the limited time available.
