On GPS, post-accelerated 94Kr beams were sent to ISS to study the onset of deformation towards N = 60 via transfer reactions. While the yield was a factor of 3 lower than expected, nature helped a bit by having a larger reaction cross section than predicted, so the experiment remained feasible. Unfortunately, on Sunday morning, the target failed, stopping the run 2 days earlier than foreseen. Nevertheless, a relatively good spectrum could be obtained and the users are not unhappy. They continued with stable Xe from the EBIS which will still allow to get them some new physics, and they will run in this mode until Wednesday.

Schedule

• As discussed at the FOM this morning, a source valve of Linac4 has to be exchanged, which will take of the order of 12 hours total, including recovery time. Our proposal is to stop the beam tomorrow, Wednesday 19th of August, at 7h30, with machine accesses starting at 8am. Beam will hopefully be back in the early evening.

    Important to note: All of them require beam intensities above 1e9 
    ions/sec to be implanted in a reasonable time.
