Some additional information for those who want to stay a few days longer (which is recommended) and need a place to eat or to drink. Or just for those who are very thirsty and need a place to eat or drink after the social events:
Food:
- Kastart: the classical student spaghetti restaurant. High value for money!
- Bluesette: cosy student bar where you can eat as well
- Balls & Glory: stuffed meatballs (also vegetarian options) as a specialty in different options
- Mosquito coast: very international
- De Gekroonde Hoofden: spare ribs
- Oud Clooster: very cosy Belgian restaurant
- Fou d'O: somewhat out of town and more expensive, but a very nice location and good food. Neighbouring restaurants are also good
Drinks
- Dulle Griet: Belgian beer bar with a very large list of available beers
- Trollenkelder: traditional Belgian bar
- Trefpunt: Belgian bar that is also an event venue for local bands
- Spyker and Gouden Mandeke : two nice bars in a touristy place
- Galgenhuis: the smallest bar in the city, but very cosy
- Hot Club Ghent: hidden in a small alley, hidden from tourists. Often with live music as well
- Waterhuis aan de Bierkant
- Dreupelkot: a special one, as it is a tiny place which sells (almost) only 'jenever', a Belgian drink that doesn't have a real translation (often 'gin' is proposed, but it is not gin). A very wide variety of tastes available.
Things to do
- The castle is worth a visit
- The adoration of the lamb in the cathedral
- If you prefer nature, the wetlands West of Ghent are easily reachable by bus (bus 77 - 78).
