The CERN School of Computing on IT Services will be showcasing IT Services and how they can help you in your work at CERN or in your home institute. Anyone with a valid CERN affiliation, whether employed by CERN, affiliated as a User, COAS or any other status, is welcome to attend.
The school on IT Services aims to empower CERN members of personnel (including Students, Fellows, Origin, Quests, Staff, and Users) to get the most out of the computing services delivered by the CERN IT Department to the physics community.
The school is recommended for any person that is using the CERN IT services either to deliver information, analyze data, automate tasks or work in engineering projects. We expect participation from both active users who would like to be more proficient and newcomers at CERN that would like to discover and get an introduction to the ecosystem of computing services available to all CERN users.
To apply, please fill in the application and make sure you provide the requested information.
Applicants should ensure that they have:
- completed the application form online, and
- uploaded a signed letter of support from your supervisor (we also accept a simple email from your supervisor, in support of your application)
The letter of support needs to be received by the school (whether uploaded or emailed) by the applicatoin deadline, at the latest.
If no letter is included, the application will be considered void and discarded from the selection process. It is your responsibility to ensure we receive it.
The number of participants is limited to 40.
Participant selection is done by members of the CSC Advisory + Programme Committee, and is based on the profile and the motivation of the applicants.
Selected applicants will receive an Acceptance Letter from the school. Payment of the registration fee (via TID) will confirm your place, at which point you will be considered a participant.
If you have received an invitation to attend the school, you will be required to pay the school's registration fee via TID. The deadline for payment of the fee is:

The total fee of the School is 440 CHF per participant
The fee covers:
- Tuition and handouts.
- Meals during the day, including lunches and coffee breaks
- All organized social activities (special dinner, excursion).
The fee does NOT cover:
- Travel expenses from the participants' home to the the Appart City hotel where the school will be hosted. The school is non-residential.
- Any extra cost incurred during the stay (including private expenses in the hotel)

We kindly ask you to arrange for a payment via TID. Please ask your secretariat to help you with this. Please ensure that your surname and the text "tCSC2025 IT Services fees" are clearly marked in the General Description field. Please use the following information to set up the TID:

The cost of the school covers all meals and social event during the week.

Insurance
Participants must have health and accident cover that includes adequate protection (including emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation and repatriation in case of illness or accident), and against disability or death resulting from illnesses and accidents, for the country in which the School takes place.
Participants shall hold CERN free and harmless from any cost or expense resulting from the situation where adequate insurance cover is not in place.
The hotel can be reached by bus 66 from St Genis Pouilly and bus 60 from Geneva, we can also look into car-sharing once we have the list of participants.

All meals are included in the School fee. The first meal will be the lunch on Monday 3 November and the last one lunch on 7 November.
We will ask you in your acceptance form about any specific dietary requirements you may have, and do our best to accommodate accordingly, given the local catering options available. However we cannot make any guarantees.
Organizing the school in an environmentally responsible way is one of our goals.
During the school, we will:
- Serve meals and drinks with washable plates, glasses and utensils; or with recycled and/or biodegradable ones
- Have vegetarian and vegan dishes available
- Limit the amount of printed materials (and in particular, only provide the printed version of the school booklet to those who want to have one)
- Separate and recycle waste
