SFT will present its ideas as a group, represented by Danilo for 2 categories (teaching & LLMs)
Need to be ready for the retreat on 1/10. Need to decide on the date (after the meeting).
Danilo explains what is expected in the jamboree -- see News slide 3.
JR: last year we had an item on docs.
DP: let's attach it to teaching and education
MC: I have a preference for the second date option, will be away
GP: Given ACAT the first option becomes virtually impossible
There is general consensus on picking the second option
Jamboree dates: 22 & 24 of September
SH: should we make an "idea box" where people can go to the responsible persons with wishes and ideas?
DP: Yes, people not involved in the area but with ideas are welcome to ask to be involved in the discussion. I propose we decentralize the organization of this.
The release plan introduced in the previous meeting is now finalized, following feedback and input from the team.
VEP: do we publish this on the website?
DP: I think this is the way to go.
We currently have 24 paid registrants, about 1/3 students.
Action (all): reach out to your network to promote the workshop.
Good opportunity to renew the fleet in bld. 32.
JB: Do you see this as additional content besides the talk?
DP: Partly. Also as an opportunity to present content that we wouldn't have the chance for at any other conference. Some things we can do first here and then upgrade for another conference (or vice versa), but in this case it's really tailored to ROOT/our users.
Action (all): indicate on the sheet linked in the slide your possibility to take ownership of a poster.
VEP: Do we already have a template for the poster?
DP: Not yet, but we should have one.
VEP: I alo think it should be reasonable for someone to take their own layout, as long as it fits in the general style.
DP: Sure, that is also okay.
Jack -> Lukas
Some problems with the CI, carried over from last week. Mac + Ubuntu 25.
DP: Ubuntu has been solved.
VEP: About the mac13 failure; it only happens in the PRs.
DP: The only difference in configuration is the artifacts, so this still needs more investigations.
GP: root-web PR builds are failing due to timeouts.
DP: We need to open a ticket with EOS for this.
Forum was pretty slow, people are still on holiday.
Not much of interest for the general team. WE have a PR on the rootbrowse to move from python to cpp (not strictly related to I/O).
Will be this week
ATLAS is slowly starting up again, Software Weekly but nothing of relevance to ROOT.
CAT workshop end of October, in Brussels. GEN+CAT, specifically for event generation. Historically someone (or more) from the team attended.
DP: If there is someone for which it makes sense to go, and there is budget we should consider it and propose it.
People are getting impatient about using RNTuple in their stacks, should be getting some traction again as people are returning from vacation.
Started thread to ask bout remaining issues with 6.36.02. Revived a PR/discussion regarding vectors of enums between Giulio and Philippe.
GP: Still trying to reproduce their crash.
RAS, things are still moving slowly.
DP: we will have at least one, maybe two people attend/speak at the workshop.
No LIM this week.
See status update doc.
JB: Should we put something on the back?
ST: We certainly could, if you have ideas feel free to share them.
GP: IMO the design can be improved a bit, but I'm not show yet how exactly.
See status report docs for full updates, below only contains what's not in there yet.
Need to update the CI machines to Win11, but they are slower. It's unclear why exactly, but unfortunately we won't have a choice because Win10 will be EoL in October.
I'm adding the SVGs and a general better organization of the logos to the website.
builtin-cling=off: can discuss offline, if it doesn't work out of the box we shouldn't, it has not really been tested thoroughly.N/A
