The Summer School is just around the corner! We look forward to seeing everyone NO LATER than 4:30 PM on Friday, July 3, 2026 at the Xenia building in Rethymno. On Saturday and Sunday, the sessions will be held at the University of Crete Research Center for the Humanities and the Social & Education Sciences (UCRC) as follows:
All Workgroup 1 sessions: Building A, Room 1
All Workgroup 2 sessions: Building D, Room 2
All Workgroup 3 sessions: Building E, Room 3
All plenary sessions: Building E, Plenary Room
Lunch will be served at the University Restaurant (Cafeteria).
The Timetable shows all sessions. A PhD-student session is 90 minutes long.
Guidance to student presenters
The first 45 minutes of each 90-min session is devoted to the PhD student presenting their research to their group. The remaining time is devoted to the feedback that the student will receive from the other group members.
The student can devote the entirety of the 45-min duration in a presentation that provides sufficient depth for others, not familiar with the particular context, to be able to engage with the issues. Alternatively, the student can devote part of the 45-min duration to the presentation, while the rest of their time is an interactive workshop on some aspect of the research (e.g., some data to be analyzed together, or an analysis framework that needs to be understood deeply before it is adapted, etc.)
Guidance to group members who provide feedback
After the student finishes their presentation, the feedback part of the session will take place. PhD students speak first. Feedback should start with strengths that are identified, followed with clarification questions, resources, perspectives, or concerns that might be useful to the presenter. The chair should ensure that there is enough time left (about 5 min) for the student to discuss with the group their thoughts regarding the issues raised.
The role of the student's PhD supervisor, if they are present, is only to take note of the feedback presented; supervisors do not participate in the discussion of their own students' work.
