Northern Taiwan is served by two airports: Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA).
- Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is the main international gateway to Taiwan and the airport used by most international travelers. It is conveniently located within easy reach of both National Central University (NCU) and Chungli.
- Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) is a smaller airport located in downtown Taipei. It mainly serves domestic flights, but also offers a number of international routes, especially to Japan, South Korea, and Mainland China. Participants arriving at Songshan Airport will need to take the Taipei Metro, followed by either the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) or Taiwan Railways (TRA), in order to reach Chungli.
From Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Chungli downtown
1. Taoyuan Airport MRT
Both A12 (Airport Terminal 1) and A13 (Airport Terminal 2) stations are served by the Taoyuan Airport MRT. For service toward Laojie River (A22), trains run at roughly 15-minute intervals during the day. Please note that this route is served by commuter trains, not express trains.
- Route: Airport Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 (A12/A13) ↔ Laojie River (A22)
- Fare: TWD 65 (about USD 2)
- Travel: 33 minutes
2. Taxi Services at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
- Terminal 1: Arrivals Hall, 1F, East Gate 12
- Terminal 2: Arrivals Hall, East Gate 26, car lane across the street
All taxis and drivers undergo a strict evaluation process by the Aviation Police Office before they are authorized to provide services at the airport. Taxi fares are calculated by the meter, with highway tolls not included. The fares are based on standard rates. Airport taxi drivers can usually communicate in basic English.
