How to reach Mainz

By Air

Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)

Mainz is located very close (25 min by public transport) to Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), one of Europe's largest hubs. The airport offers direct connections to more than 300 destinations in over 100 countries.

The airport is well connected to Mainz Central Station via the S-Bahn. To take the S-Bahn, follow the signs to the regional train station ("Regionalbahnhof/Local Trains"). Take the S-Bahn line S8 toward Wiesbaden; trains run every 30 minutes. You can buy tickets from ticket vending machines or online via the DB Navigator app. The correct ticket is "Einzelfahrkarte nach 6500" which is the Mainz-Wiesbaden region.

Frankfurt Hahn Airport (HHN)

Frankfurt Hahn Airport offers direct flights to many European destinations on budget airlines. The Airport is connected to Mainz central station via a direct, non-stop bus service. You can book a bus ticket here.

By Train

Mainz Central Station is well connected with long-haul trains to the rest of Germany, with direct connections to Germany's largest cities.

It is about 40 minutes away from Frankfurt and Mannheim Central Stations. Both have direct, frequent connections to many destinations in Germany, as well as to France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. We recommend downloading the DB Navigator app. Through this app, you can buy tickets and check connections to and from Mainz.

Arriving at Mainz Central Station

The square in front of the central station has many bus and tram platforms and can therefore be a little bit hard to orient yourself. You can find an interactive map with all platforms and the available bus and tram lines here. This might be especially relevant to you if you want to go by bus to the Workshop venue, which otherwise would be a 20-minute walk. The closest bus stop to the venue is "Mainz Höfchen". You can also use the DB Navigator app to check for bus connections. The App also tells you from which platform the bus departs.

Parking at the venue:

Our venue, the Erbacher Hof, offers a small underground garage for a fee. For people with a walking disability, they offer the parking spots free of charge. Please check their prices in the picture (taken 25th of March 2026) below:
