- We had an Overview Board meeting yesterday. We are happy to inform you that Bucharest T1 (for ALICE) has been fully endorsed. Pledges will be already inserted in CRIC this September, to be active for 2027. Romania will also be asked to identify a MB member.
- The situation with Serbia (a proposed T1 for CMS) is less clear. No contact with CMS has been reported since last OB, and Serbia was not present at the meeting. A written report was requested and sent; it highlights some improvements happened since the last OB, but also highlights an ongoing change of management structure. A closer contact with the experiment and an update of the schedule and the structure will be requested, together with a full report at the next OB.
- Two weeks ago there was a LHCC meeting, and in the computing section experiments were especially requested to discuss GPU related activities (and the improvements since the last LHCC). The (draft) list of recommendations is quite long this time, with a focus on the handling of dark data (this comes after the RRB decision to cut by 50% the disk increases for CMS and ALICE). There are been two recommendations about (i) a continuous monitoring of the IT resources hardware cost and (ii) the request to propose concrete measures to reduce the gaps between the needs, the pledged and the installed capacity.
- Last week we had the first organization meeting on the “GPU activity”, as in the matters arising from the last MB. Stefano Piano will convene discussions with the groups asap – as urgent also due to the WLCG Technical Roadmap.
- Tomorrow there will be the Face2Face of the Resource Planning and Pledging Task Force. The aim is to find agreement in order to start drafting a document.
- WLCG/HSF WS in Bologna (Nov 2nd-6th): block agenda now done; registrations expected to start ~ end of June.
- Cath has sent out the mail for the procedure to insert 2027 pledges in CRIC. The deadline is Monday 14 September.
